Project Summary

1. Summary

A climate change awareness campaign with a difference using fantasy as a method to reach an audience but giving a powerful 'real' modern day message.

2. The project

We need to communicate the importance of climate change awareness. However we want to do this in a different way than the usual clinical, scientific way. Rather we would like to produce a powerful message that speaks to the audience in a powerful, personal emotional level.

The message of the human experience in a grass roots level is covered in this way sometimes. However, instead of going just for a real life doomsday scenario we would like to use metaphor in mythological or legendary way or with the use of the 'moral story' or fable.

We looked at the idea of Atlantis and feel this is a good theme to base our comparison on, using it as a kind of model 'this is what may have happened' perspective; to juxtaposition real social and world experiences and subject matter into an abstract and slightly surreal fantasy world. This could facilitate a different approach and perspective on the theme making the message more personal, powerful and memorable.

We want to focus in on a small aspect of the human experience by finding a real scenario and loading this onto our theme of the lost city Atlantis. Atlantis could symbolise home, the world, earth and world cooperation; climate change could be the effect of it being submerged and almost forgotten.

We want to find some world music and this could make the piece into a music video. The music would be of a type that does not necessarily hold any preconceived notions for the audience but creates the right mood and fits into our concept.

We could use 3D and flat animation for this as well as motion video.
